Palma Girls Soccer Team Makes History with First Win
The Palma Girls Soccer team had an unforgettable day on Friday, December 6th, marking several milestones in their very first official game. Not only did they secure their first win, but they also celebrated their first goal and had their first-ever celebratory tunnel, courtesy of the Palma Boys Soccer team.
Genesis Vasquez was named Player of the Game for her incredible performance, scoring the game-winning goal in the second half. She also led the team with five shots, while Elsie Sargenti added five shots and Kathryn Dill contributed one.
In goal, Carolina Lorca recorded her first shutout, with solid defensive support from Kathryn Dill, Emily Veliz, Emma Munoz, and Gabby Uribe, who kept the opposition at bay. Lorca made five key saves to ensure the win.
Despite playing with only nine players, the team showed remarkable heart and determination. Head Coach Amy Dill and Assistant Coach Angel Martinez Casas expressed immense pride in the girls' performance. "They played with so much heart," Coach Dill said. "Their teamwork and resilience were incredible."
This win is just the beginning for the Palma Girls Soccer team, and with more exciting games ahead, they're ready to build on this momentum.
Palma Girls soccer followed up this victory with a 1-1 tie at Saint Francis SCP. Palma is now 1-1-0 this season.
