Palma Softball Defeats Notre Dame SJ to Move on in CCS Playoffs

Both teams were strong in the circle on Saturday, but the Palma Chieftains defeated Notre Dame Regents 3-2. Sophia Cardinale started the game for Palma and recorded 21 outs.

Palma opened the scoring in the second after Brianna Hernandez hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

Palma next scored one run in the top of the third on a solo home run to center field by Reese Amaral.

Cardinale earned the win for the Chieftains. The starter gave up five hits and two runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out four and walking five. Anya Shah took the loss for Notre Dame. The hurler went seven innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits, striking out eight and walking none.

Lead off hitter Keilani Pato-Guardado led Palma with three hits in four at bats. Hernandez, Amaral, and Ashlyn Urmanita each drove in one run for Palma.

Palma will take on Sacred Heart Cathedral this Wednesday, 7pm at Los Gatos High School in a Semi Final match up. The winner will advance to the Finals on Saturday.
