"Palma Rising" isn't just about our upgraded sports facilities—The Palma Basketball Program is on the rise too! After a 21-8 season that included a run to the divisional CCS championship game and the second round of the state tournament, the Chieftains are back and ready for the 2025-2026 season.

Excitement is building for the 41st Luis and Lucille Scattini Memorial Basketball Tournament, one of the most popular early-season events on the Central Coast. The 2025 field features local rivals Salinas, Alvarez, St. Francis (Watsonville), and Soquel, along with returning out-of-town teams Dougherty Valley, Whitney, and first-time participant Roosevelt (Fresno). With tradition, hospitality, and high-level competition, the Scattini Tournament promises another thrilling showcase of Chieftain basketball.
